"The Ormer Shell" Filming Commences

We are very excited to announce that shooting has commenced on the first film to be made under the GIFP banner. The screenplay was written by Miss Heather Morris in 2007 and entered in a CinéGuernsey Script Competition. Heather has kindly given us her blessing to produce an adaptation of her story. Without wishing to give away the plot, all I’m saying is “Eat your heart out, Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society”.

May 30th dawned bright and fair (well, except for the rain and fog) and a motley crew of five (actually, a cast and crew of four, with one hanger-on, me!) descended en masse on the beautiful, tranquil home of David and Gloria Dudley-Owen and proceeded to disturb their peace. Except for a couple of technical hiccups, everything went well. The stars of the film excelled in their interpretation of their roles, and by the end of the morning forty-odd minutes of footage had been taken.

After a fairly extended lunch break, during which time the weather decided to be kind to us, cameras were set up outside the gorgeous west coast cottage belonging to Mark and Pauline Corlett. Then we forced our angelic ten year old actress, Katie, to fall into the road several times. It’s not all glamour being a film star, you know! Luckily, she was (sort of) rescued by her pretend mum and they rode … erm … drove off into the sunset.

In all seriousness, we are very grateful indeed to David & Gloria and Mark & Pauline. Their kindness is appreciated by us all. Our gratitude also to Max & Denise Carling for the loan of their "character" Land Rover. And last but not least, a huge “thank you” to Margaret, Katie and Martine for their patience, humour and support throughout the whole day.
